Digital Textbook Access Program
About the Program
If you are registered in participating courses that are part of the Digital Textbook Access program, you’ll be able to access a digital copy of your course materials directly through Blackboard on the first day of class at the lowest price available from the publisher.
This may include eBooks and other publisher created courseware.
This program saves you 20-60% on required course materials.
Your Student Account will be charged for the course materials, and these fees will be paid directly to the college. You will not have to purchase separate textbooks or course material for these courses, as you’ll have access to everything you need.
While you are automatically enrolled in this program, if you are registered in these courses, you have the option to opt out and remove yourself from the program. There is no penalty to opt out. However, it must be done prior to the opt out deadline, and you would then be responsible for sourcing and purchasing your own materials.
NOTE: Not all courses are included in this program. If you are registered in courses not listed below, please visit your program Booklist for textbook requirements. All your other required textbooks are available for purchase as usual through Follett Bookstore.
There are many benefits to students, including:
- Save 20-60% on printed books and other course material.
- Deferred student billing directly to student accounts.
- Course materials are available online on day one without waiting in line with heavy books.
- Reduced stress related to finding and purchasing the correct course materials.
- Digital platforms offer key features such as: highlighting, flashcards, note-sharing and text to speech, leading to greater success in the course.
Course materials will be accessible through a link posted in the “Course Content” section of your Blackboard courses. You will also receive a confirmation email prior to classes beginning, providing additional details on how to access your digital materials.
For courses that are part of this program, you won’t need to make any separate textbook or course material purchases, as everything will be included in Blackboard.
If you require or prefer a hard copy of the textbook, affordable print versions are available through this program. These would be purchased directly through the Publisher at a low cost to the student. Information on this option is available through the Course Material link.
For courses dropped prior to the last day to drop/add/opt-out deadline, access to electronic or digital materials will be automatically disabled.
The length of access to the digital materials varies depending on the course material and the publisher’s terms.
Please see the list of courses and fees to find out how long you will have access to your course material.
The fees are posted directly to your Student Portal Account as an “E-Textbook Charge” and can be paid along with your tuition and other College fees.
Please check your Student Portal Account status for any outstanding balance, as this fee has only recently been added.
For Fall 2024, you’ll have until December 31, 2024 to pay “E-Textbook” fees left on your account without incurring any penalties.
For Winter 2025, you’ll have until April 22, 2025 to pay “E-Textbook” fees left on your account without incurring any penalties.
Non-payment by April 22 will prevent release of transcripts and/or graduation documents.
If you opt out of the program or drop the class, the charge will be removed from your account.
If you are registered in courses that are part of the Digital Textbook Access program, you are automatically opted-in. However, you may choose to remove yourself from the course by opting-out and finding/purchasing your course materials independently.
Access to electronic or digital materials will be automatically disabled if you opt-out. You will then be responsible for sourcing and purchasing the course materials yourself.
Please note: if you opt out and are in a course that uses a platform such as CONNECT, MyLab, WebAssign, MindTap, Achieve, SageVantage, Revel, Mastering, or InQuizitive, you will lose access to the platform once the free trial period has ended, usually two to three weeks into classes. You will then have to pay the vendor directly to continue using the platform which is required for the course.
