Students who have successfully completed the courses below can continue into our Office Administration – General one-year certificate program or our two-year Law Clerk diploma program.

Courses

OF3002 – Legal Terminology (42 Hours)

Students will build a vocabulary of common legal terminology used within a law office, government agency, court systems, social services and current affairs through practice, study guide and quizzes.

OF1023 – Office Procedures (42 Hours)

This course helps the student acquire practical and transferable office administration skills, attitudes, behaviours and knowledge, which can be valuable in obtaining and retaining careers in today’s fast-changing office environment. Topics covered include Internet research and email messages; managing time and stress; telecommunications; office reception and customer service; planning meetings and travel arrangements; handling the office mail; and document management.

AC1104 – Legal Accounting (42 Hours)

Administrative assistants are often asked to contribute to the accounting process in small legal and business offices. Students develop an awareness of the underlying theory and principles of accounting. They acquire skill in analyzing, journalizing and posting financial transactions and in summarizing these transactions in financial statements. Students also attain proficiency in the control of cash, banking, payroll, client billing and reporting procedures. These skills are developed through a series of activities and practical tests using a variety of tools including online tutorials and business software.
