About Pilates: Our Pilates classes are open to everyone regardless of fitness level or experience. Registration cost is for 8 classes that run every Thursday (once a week for 8 weeks) from 4:00pm to 5:00pm.

Pilates is a system of exercises  inspired by calisthenics, yoga, and ballet.  Pilates, or the Pilates Method promotes mobility,  strength, stability and flexibility, and develops the body through muscular efforts that stem from the core.  Similar to yoga, it encourages deep conscious breath work that creates softness and space to facilitate proper alignment.   This class is suitable for all age and levels, and will focus on the essential principles and exercises of Pilates with a focus on both lengthening and strengthening the entire body.  The class will incorporate music to fluidly transition from one exercise to the next, creating an awareness of the body, and will with time create movements that are both efficient and graceful. Pilates promotes mobility and strength of all the major muscle groups in the body in a balanced fashion, whilst also having a key focus on the deep core muscles. It improves posture, flexibility, strength, balance and body awareness. Regular Pilates practice can also promote mental clarity and calmness; increase body awareness; relieve chronic stress patterns; relax the mind; center attention; and sharpen concentration.

Etiquette: Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your pilates class to get a space where you feel most comfortable. Wear comfortable clothing, bring a water bottle and your mat.

About Barre Fitness: Our Barre Fitness classes are open to everyone regardless of fitness level or experience. Registration cost is for 8 classes that run every Thursday (once a week for 8 weeks) from 4:00pm to 5:00pm.

Barre Fitness is a low-impact full-body workout that focuses on high repetition of small movements that strengthen and tone your entire body.  Anyone is capable of taking Barre, no matter your age and fitness level, and no dance experience is required.  It is a hybrid workout, combining ballet-inspired moves with elements of Pilates, dance, yoga, and strength training.

The real difference between barre and other workouts are the isometric movements performed – holding your body still while you contract specific muscles until you shake and feel the burn.

The classes will begin with a full body and joint warm-up, then move to the barre to focus on legs and glutes.  The class will then move to the mat to focus on strength training upper body and back, and a targeted core workout.  Exercises are primarily body weight, however pilates balls and resistance bands are also used (you may bring your own if you have them but they are not required).  Each muscle group is targeted individually with high reps and light resistance to the point of fatigue, followed by a stretch in between each section of work.  Barre Fitness combines flexibility, mobility and strength training in every single class.

Etiquette: Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your Barre Fitness class to get a space where you feel most comfortable. Wear comfortable clothing, bring a water bottle and your mat. Socks are required (no shoes) preferably socks with grips (but grips not necessary).
