Dear Staff and Students,

Northern College would like to announce that, as of May 1, 2025, our college campuses and all access centres will officially become smoke-free. This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to create a healthier, safer, and more sustainable environment for everyone in our communities.

Over the next five months, we will be finalizing our comprehensive smoke-free policy. During this time, we will be sharing information and updates through various digital and print campaigns to ensure that all staff and students are well-informed about the transition.

To accommodate those who currently smoke, we will be designating smoking areas off of our college properties. All campuses and access centres will have proper signage showing designated areas, which will allow for continued access to smoking areas, while maintaining the smoke-free environment on our college properties.

This policy will align Northern College with the smoke-free environment standards set by all public colleges across Ontario. If you have any questions or concerns about this transition, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Director of Marketing, Communications, and External Relations.
