Workshop: Navigating Wellness: Strategies for Managing Mental Health in the Workplace

This workshop will address the unique challenges and stresses faced by employees in today’s fast-paced and demanding workplaces. From fostering open communication and reducing stigma to implementing wellness initiatives and providing resources for support, this book equips managers and employees alike with the strategies they need to prioritize mental well-being and create a culture of empathy, understanding, and resilience. Participants will gain an increased awareness of issues that affect mental well-being, with a focus on understanding the impact of racism and discrimination on minoritized and racialized colleagues in the workplace. Henry Luyombya, an esteemed Mental Fitness and Diversity Specialist, is deeply committed to collective empowerment. With nearly two decades of dedicated service in community advocacy, health promotion, and support for refugees, immigrants, and other marginalized groups, Henry’s work focuses on dismantling systemic barriers to service access and enhancing mental well-being. Currently serving as the Director of Mental Health at the Canadian Congress on Inclusive Diversity & Workplace Equity in the Atlantic Canada Office, Henry played a pivotal role as one of the diversity consultants for the PEI 2023 Canada Games. His extensive experience spans various domains, including advocacy, capacity building, mental wellness, and research, reflecting his unwavering dedication to equity and social justice. Henry is a multifaceted professional, serving as a speaker, trainer, courage-builder, life coach, and Principal Consultant at HENSOL Consults, a private firm offering empowerment education, immigration, and counseling services in Canada and Uganda. With licenses as a Clinical Social Worker in Ontario and Prince Edward Island, Henry’s therapeutic approach integrates cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance commitment therapy, narrative therapy, and solution-focused therapy, drawing from psycho-dynamic and systems theories.
