Workshop: Recruitment, retention, and revenue generation via religious Literacy

A welcoming and respectful workplace is important to everyone. These work conditions can inform recruitment, retention, and revenue in different ways for each employer. This interactive workshop introduces religious literacy as one practical tool to help employers understand the importance of recognizing and respecting the religious, spiritual, and non-religious background of the people gathering at your organization – whether staff or client. A more comprehensive focus on this topic will be offered in the “Faith & Belief Friendly Workplace” Certification Training, hosted by the City, the TSACC, and the South Temiskaming Futures Community Development Corporation this Fall 2024.

Erin Reid, Ph.D., specializes in delivering training workshops and courses on issues related to religious diversity. With decades of experience working with professionals, Erin is known for her skills in facilitating thoughtful discussions that engage all participants and help foster a community of inquiry. She is a CCRL Co-founder, its Director of Adult Education, Alberta Regional Director, and teaches in the Faculty of Education at the University of Lethbridge. In 2015, she received the Award for Distinguished Teaching in McGill University’s School of Continuing Studies.

The Centre for Civic Religious Literacy (CCRL) is a non-religious non-profit committed to promoting religious literacy to foster understanding about religious, spiritual, and non-religious identities and people in all sectors of society. We do this to support individuals in various spheres of society to recognize the richness and contributions of religious, spiritual, and non-religious identities of peoples in Canada and the world. Since 2021, CCRL has been working with local partners in Temiskaming Shores, including the City, Temiskaming Shores & Area Chamber of Commerce (TSACC), Keepers of the Circle Indigenous Hub, and One Light Diversity Centre.
