Northern College is seeking a Cook in our Tikinagan Childcare Centre. The successful candidate will be able to manage their time effectively, work both alone and in a team, be punctual, reliable, and trustworthy. The incumbent will demonstrate knowledge of working within Health and Safety guidelines and proper food handling techniques. In addition, they will demonstrate patience, empathy and friendliness towards the children and their parents/guardians. Experience working in the janitorial area is considered an asset. Reporting to the Moosonee Campus Manager, the successful candidate will perform duties associated with preparing and delivery of daily meals. What you will be doing: • Prepare meals and snacks for children in the daycare centre; • Prepare food according to allergies/sensitivities of the children; • Clean and disinfect kitchen to Ministry of Health standards; • Properly store and maintain inventory of food and cleaning products; • Follow approved menu plan; and • Deliver food to the daycare centre. What you will need to be considered: • High school diploma or equivalent; • Food Handler Certification or equivalent; • 1.5 years of related practical experience; and • Ability to provide proof of required immunizations. Northern College is seeking Instructors to deliver Babysitting Training and Home Alone courses in our Northern Training Division. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and listening skills, will be able to adapt to change, be punctual and patient. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and listening skills, will be able to adapt to change, be punctual and patient. The incumbent will provide assistance with admission and discharge of children, meal center preparation, distribution of meals and snacks and cleanliness of toys and the center. What you will be doing: • Assist the child care team by providing care-giving routines; • Assist with the supervision of children in all facets of the child care schedule; • Assist with cleaning and disinfecting of Centre; and • Maintain effective and clear communications with co-workers, the children and the parents/guardians. What you will need to be considered: • High School Diploma or equivalent; • 1 year practical and related child care work experience; • Current First Aid/CPR; • WHMIS certificate required; and • Successful candidates will be required to provide a vulnerable sector criminal reference check and immunization record.
