  • Ensure the smooth operation of the EEFHT clinic office and reception area by exercising organizational and administrative skills;
  • Provide clerical duties for the clinic, including maintaining of medical records (both hard copy and electronic),
  • Establish and maintain appropriate medical filing systems and information to facilitate the retrieval and processing of confidential client information/documentation; and
  • Complete OHIP and third party billing, roster and de-roster patients, explain breakdown of fees and other information to patients and collect and process payments.

Northern College is seeking a Payroll Specialist in our Human Resource Services department. The successful candidate will have the ability to manage team priorities in a payroll production environment, and possess strong analytical and financial analysis skills. Along with having excellent planning and organizing abilities, they will also have outstanding communication, customer service, and presentation skills. Advanced computer and database maintenance skills and experience are required. Canadian Payroll Association designation is a strong asset or equivalent courses. Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing all of the operational requirements of the College’s payroll production environment and for providing support and information to all employee groups. This involves the preparation and analysis of accurate and timely reporting of employee information, costs, statement of earnings, and remittances. What you will be doing:
  • Processes payrolls for all full-time, part-time and casual employees, ensuring they are accurate and are made in accordance with the payroll schedules, government regulations, and College policies and procedures, and Collective Agreements;
  • Ensures that appropriate deductions and remittances are prepared and submitted, such as CRA, CAAT Pension, Sun Life, garnishments, EHT, and OPSEU and Local Union dues, in accordance with legislative requirements;
  • Maintains all payroll data records, accurately, as well as items such as accrued and distributed sickness and vacation pay, and absence reporting including Leaves of Absences;
  • Verifies, confirms, and balances calendar year end employment earnings, deductions, and benefits for T4, and T4A reporting; Employment Insurance, Canada Pension Plan, on an annual basis;
  • Liaises with external auditor during year end process and provides requested information;
  • Liaises with other areas such as the Finance department to ensure records are accurate; and
  • Perform certain pension and benefit duties and is the backup to the Pension & Benefits Specialist.

  • Three-year diploma in Business Administration, Human Resources, Accounting or related/relevant field of study;
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in payroll administration/accounting;
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Excel is required;
  • Sound knowledge of payroll/accounting principles and practices is required;
  • Knowledge of legislations, labour contracts particularly compensation provisions of Collective Agreements, Administrative Terms & Conditions of Employment, Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, Employment Insurance Act, relevant Revenue Canada regulations; and
