Competitive Programs

Admissions for Competitive Programs

Some of our programs are very popular, and therefore high in demand. They are called competitive because only some spots are available.

Because we hear from more students who want to study here than we have spots for, we give priority based on the highest academic achievement in the admission requirements for the program.

After the February 1 equal consideration date arrives, applications are either waitlisted or accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, following the admission requirements if any spots are left in the program.

Priority of Admissions

Applicants will be accepted for highly competitive programs in the following priority:

  1. Permanent residents of Ontario
  2. Permanent residents of other provinces or territories in Canada
  3. Applicants from other countries

Depending on the program, colleges may require specific secondary school subjects as prerequisites, and they may set minimum grade cut-offs in these subjects.

Some programs may require a portfolio, essay, or other supporting documentation.
