President and CEO
Mitch Dumas, MBA, CPA, CGA
Most recently serving as the Senior Vice President, Corporate Services, at the senior management level for the Northern College, Mitch Dumas is a graduate of Northern as well as Laurentian University. With an Honours Bachelor of Commerce and a Masters of Business Administration, coupled with his Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation and College diploma, Mitch’s educational background underscores his expertise in finance and management.
Born in Mattawa, Ontario, and raised in Timmins, Ontario, Mr. Dumas has deep roots in Northern Ontario and has been an integral part of the region’s growth for over two decades. His experience in the Mining Sector, for which Northern College is well known, uniquely positions him to understand and contribute to the institution’s distinct needs. Mr. Dumas’s leadership style is characterized by genuineness, honesty, and a dedication to problem-solving. As he assumes the role of President, his commitment to these values will undoubtedly guide the institution toward continued success.
As Senior Vice President, Corporate Services, Mr. Dumas has demonstrated exceptional leadership and strategic acumen in overseeing various portfolios, including finance, human resources, and facilities. With a focus on financial prudence, operational excellence, and organizational well-being, he has played a pivotal role in the success of Northern College.
Senior Vice-President, Academic
Dean Lessard, B.Ed., M.Ed., MBA
Dean Lessard is a proud ‘Northerner’, both as a life-long resident of northern Ontario and as a long-standing employee of Northern College. Dean joined the college in October of 2013 and has held a variety of academic leadership roles, including Dean, School of Business, Community Services & the Learning Excellence and Innovation Department.
In January of 2024, Dean was hired as Northern College’s Senior Vice President, Academic. Raised in a family of educators committed to life-long learning and appreciative of the transformative power of education, Dean’s own learning journey has seen him earn an undergraduate degree in History, a Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed.), a Master of Education degree (M.Ed.) in Curriculum Development/Leadership and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. Prior to joining Northern College, Dean held a variety of leadership and classroom teaching roles in public education.
Senior Vice President, Corporate Services (Acting)
Glenn MacDougall, M.Sc.
Glenn MacDougall is the Acting Senior Vice President of Corporate Services. He has held previous roles at Northern, having joined the College community in the Fall of 2017 as Director of Technology and Learning Innovation, followed by Acting Vice President of Academic and Student Success.
Prior to this, Glenn MacDougall served as Chief Information Officer at Kivuto Solutions in Ottawa, Ontario, and was Director of Learning and Teaching Services at Algonquin College for fifteen years. An experienced educational consultant with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry, Glenn is skilled in E-Learning, Strategic Planning, Educational Technology, Instructional Design, and Team Building. He holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s of Science focused in Biology and Physics from Mount Allison University.
Executive Director, Student Services, Institutional Research and Registrar
Jennifer Moorlag
Jennifer Moorlag is the Executive Director, Student Services, Institutional Research and Registrar, assuming the role in August of 2024. She joined Northern College in 2022 as a Communications Instructor and moved into the position of Instructional Designer.
Jennifer had an adventure-filled 27-year career with Yukon College, now Yukon University. She has had the pleasure of working in small rural northern communities for most of her career. Jennifer was fortunate to be able to contribute to Yukon College/YukonU in several different roles, spending time as a faculty member, department Chair, interim Dean, and five years as the College Registrar.
Jennifer’s academic background includes a B.A (Economics) from the University of Winnipeg, an M. Ed, in Leadership Studies (University of Victoria) and an MPA – Masters in Public Administration (University of Alaska Southeast). Jennifer is passionate about education and loves working in the College system.
Director, Marketing, Communications & External Relations
Jaret Dicks
Jaret Dicks is the Director of Marketing, Communications & External Relations at Northern College. Jaret joined the college in 2007 as a Liaison Recruitment Officer and has since taken on various leadership roles, overseeing Admissions, Domestic and International Recruitment, Marketing, Communications, and Alumni Relations.
Prior to his time at Northern College, Jaret worked as a Marketing & Design Consultant for a shopping and entertainment developer in Toronto. Through his past work experience, he has collaborated with the National and International Olympic Committee marketing teams, and he has also applied his marketing and design expertise to both professional and junior hockey promotion.
Being a Mohawk College graduate, Jaret is a strong advocate and believes that a college education is an essential pathway for all learners, as it equips new grads for the workforce, facilitates further post-secondary education at both college and university levels, and opens doors to apprenticeship opportunities.
Jaret has had the opportunity to have lived across many provinces as a youth, but is proud to have called Timmins home since 1987. Currently, Jaret is pursuing an MA in Higher Education Administration and Leadership at Royal Roads University.
Executive Director, International & Market Development
Ahmed Baghdady, EdD
Ahmed Baghdady is the Executive Director, International Recruitment and Market development, assuming the role in September of 2024. Prior to joining Northern College, Ahmed led the International Agreements team at Waterloo International, University of Waterloo.
Ahmed started his thirty-year career as ESL professor, then held several program and research leadership roles internationally. He has worked at the Institute of International Education (IIE), RAND Corporation, AMIDEAST, and Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development. Ahmed’s academic background includes a BA degree in Arts and Education, a Graduate Diploma in Executive Management from the American University in Cairo, and Master’s and Doctor of Education (EdD) degrees in Educational Leadership from the University of Leicester in the UK with a focus on internationalization of higher education and global engagement.
